The route, easy and suitable for everyone, offers the possibility to ride on the Adriatic coast of Teramo, to breathe fresh air rich in iodine, but also to deal with the first rolling hills, through olive tree groves and fields cultivated in Abruzzo.
The tour is designed for the mountain bike lovers. It starts and ends in the town of Tortoreto Lido, on the teraman coast: 35 km in total, with a first part completely flat on the Adriatica Cycle path (to the north area of Alba Adriatica) a second part rather more hilly, through a loop path that goes through the first hinterland hills.
The path goes back to Tortoreto Lido following the course of the river Salinello.
Tortored Lido is a famous and popular sea resort attracting many tourists in summer. Religious buildings include the Church of Santa Maria della Misericordia, dating back to 1348, with wonderful 16th-century frescos by Giacomo Confini and his disciples. Remains of a 2nd-century-B.C. Roman estate are worthy as well. The he natural oasis Le fonti del Vascello is located around a small artificial lake. Main events are organized during summer.
Small town near Teramo, it occupies the top of a hill near the valley of the river Salinello. Here was located the important Benedictine monastery of St Lorenzo in Salino around the XI century. Poggio was the administrative-territorial autonomous institution until the early nineteenth century, during the "French decade" (1806-1816). In the reorganization operated by the Napoleonic in the Kingdom of Naples, Poggio Morello was incorporated in the municipality of St Omero, of which today it is a fraction.
From Martinsicuro to Roseto degli Abruzzi, it is possible to ride along the coast for 25 kilometers, thanks to wood bridges built on the torrent Vibrata, on the Salinello and on the river Tordino.
