Points of interest

ALAGNA VALSESIA
ALAGNA VALSESIA

The best-known town of Valsesia, it is located at the foot of Monte Rosa and it is an ideal starting point for lovers of both summer and winter excursions. Over time the town has become a landmark of international importance for mountaineering and, above all, for free ride skiing, attracting fans from all over the world. Moreover, the town has its roots in the Walser culture and as such it features the typical wooden buildings that make it particularly characteristic: indeed, the traditions, lifestyles, and language of this 14th-century culture are still alive thanks to centres like the Walser Museum, located in the borough of Pedemonte and inaugurated in 1976. Of great artistic interest also the late Gothic Church of San Giovanni Battista (1511), which houses a number of masterpieces.
