Points of interest

Sasso Rosso is a mountain in the Brenta Dolomites, in the southern Retiche Alps, which rises up to 2,645 meters of altitude. It is a natural border to the Val Piana or Piana della Nana and takes its name from the characteristic color that differentiates it from other mountains.

The bivouac is located at 2,365 meters on Pra Castron, a natural terrace between the ‘Dos degli Strinzi’ (or Tower of Stairs) and Sasso Rosso, west of the ‘Passo di Pra Castron’. The bivouac, a wood prefabricated, was built in 1985 by the SAT section of Dimaro and is dedicated to the young climber Claudio Costanzi Albasini, precipitated by the western wall of the Cima Nana. It can accommodate up to 10 people. The water source is located at a few minutes' walk, in a valley below the ridge of Cima Nana (reachable with flat trail).
