The path goes along the wide expanses of Pian della Nana, in Trentino, a great karstic plateaus of an extraordinary beauty and geological interest. Herds of cows, horses, donkeys, sheeps and goats graze these pastures in the wild state. The walk ends at the mountain refuge of Costanzi , a little house on a natural panoramic terrace surrounded by greenery.
Technical description: The trek is in altitude, it is 9,5 kilometers long and is suitable for expert excursionists. From the town of Cles you reach the Durigat Lake (1869 mt) and from there you continue along the forestry route that goes up to the Peller mountain refuge (1990 mt) and then, on a flat path, to the Clesera mountain farm (1889 mt). You take the path that leads, on a little climb, to the Salare Lake. Here you leave the path to reach the higher Passo della Forcola (2105 mt). From the Pass you go down to the Pian della Nana, to reconnect with the Equipped Alps Path “Claudio Costanzi” that goes through the Piano passing by Passo della Nana (2195 mt) up to the east slope of Cima Nana. At this point you leave the Costanzi path to reach the Selletta della Nana (2530 mt) and take the path that goes down to the mountain refuge A.Costanzi (2365 mt).
Tech tips: The Pelller Mountain refuge is reachable by car from Cles, Val di Non. Here there are 3 free parking lots where you can leave the car for more days. In order to travel on this dirt road it’s necessary to have a jeep or a high vehicle and you don’t need any permission. The first parking lot is near Durigat Lake with 25 parking spaces. From the parking lot the refuge is a 10 minutes’ walk. To reach the second parking lot you continue from here going up on the left towards ‘Malga Tassulla’ up to the stop: here there is another parking lot with 30 parking spaces. From the parking to the refuge is a 20 minutes’ walk. The third parking lot is reachable continuing from Durigat Lake going up on the right towards Rifugio Peller. Below the refuge there is a little parking lot with 10 parking spaces. From the parking to the refuge is a 5 minutes’ walk. Water supply along the path at: Rifugio Peller, Malga Clesera and Bivacco Costanzi. Who stays overnight at the Bivacco Costanzi can ask a “packed dinner” at the Rifugio Peller. Or you can buy some cheese at the Malga Clesera.
Sasso Rosso is a mountain in the Brenta Dolomites, in the southern Retiche Alps, which rises up to 2,645 meters of altitude. It is a natural border to the Val Piana or Piana della Nana and takes its name from the characteristic color that differentiates it from other mountains.
The bivouac is located at 2,365 meters on Pra Castron, a natural terrace between the Dos degli Strinzi (or Tower of Stairs) and Sasso Rosso, west of the Passo di Pra Castron. The bivouac, a wood prefabricated, was built in 1985 by the SAT section of Dimaro and is dedicated to the young climber Claudio Costanzi Albasini, precipitated by the western wall of the Cima Nana. It can accommodate up to 10 people. The water source is located at a few minutes' walk, in a valley below the ridge of Cima Nana (reachable with flat trail).
