Tuckett mountain refuge - Brentei mountain refuge

Tappa 4 - Dolomiti di Brenta Trek Expert

At first the path descends between pines and flowers of all kinds up to the pass of Fridolin. From here you enter into the most emblematic valley of the Group, the Val Brenta. After passing through a narrow rock tunnel you can enjoy the view of Crozzon Brenta, a giant stone in the shape of a 900 meters high ship's bow, below which lies on a grassy plateau the famous refuge Brentei.

Technical description: You walk downhill to the Pass Fridolin (2143meters), first through pebbly roads and then a pine forest. Just below the grassy Pass of Fridolin you reach the junction with the Trail Bogani SAT 318 (E) that rises from the Refuge Casinei. Following this trail you walk along the steep right bank of the Val Brenta until you reach the refuge Maria and Alberto Brentei (2182 meters) in an hour. The itinerary that connects the two mountain refuges is a classic and very popular route, not particularly difficult except for an exposed ledge but there is an handrail near the Galleria Bogani. Total walking time Tuckett Refuge - Refuge Brentei: 1h30m NOTE: From now on and up to Rifugio Agostini the DBT Expert path is considered for experienced hikers. It’s necessary to use harnesses, via ferrata kit, helmet and crampons. The variant that leads directly to the Rifugio Pedrotti Tosa via Bocca di Brenta avoids this difficult stretch. The variant goes through a simple snowfield for which you have to check the condition of the snow contacting the refuge Brentei or the refuge Pedrotti. Halfway on the path there are some metal ropes and handrails that easily allow to exceed a “jump of rock”.

Technical tips: Rifugio Tuckett is reachable from Campo Carlo Magno, Val Rendena, taking the Grostè cable car that leads to Cima Grostè. From the top you continue along the SAT 331 path that leads to the Rifugio Tuckett. The refuge is also accessible from Madonna di Campiglio, Val Rendena. From the village you travel by car to Vallesinella and you go up walking along the SAT 317 path that leads to the refuge. In summer there is a shuttle bus service that leads from Madonna di Campiglio to Vallesinella.
