Porto Selvaggio - TREKKING

An easy and scenic hiking in the heart of Salento, suitable for all types of hikers.
The natural area of ‘Porto Selvaggio and Palude del Capitano’, in the municipality of Nardò, can be entirely explored on foot through the pine forests of the Mediterranean forest, up to Torre dell’Alto, a sixteenth century construction overlooking the rugged and rocky coastline.
A shady path that leads hikers to discover the history of the ancient Messapian and Greek populations.

Technical description:
10 kilometers long loop path, well marked and easy to do. There are  some parts on a gravel ground and others on woodland pastures. Ideal for families.

Mysterious underground construction with a ‘L’ shape. Archaeologists are still trying to understand what it is. Probably an ancient cultural site.

TORRE DELL'ALTO
TORRE DELL'ALTO

An ancient coastal tower of the sixteenth century. It stands on a cliff of 50 meters above the sea. From here you can admire a truly exceptional view of the Ionian Sea.

Before that Salento was 'conquered' by olive tree groves and vineyards, oaks used to reigned. Along the way you can immerse yourself in a road completely in the shadow of the ancient plants.
