Camaldolesi’s Hermitage - Chieri, on the road of ancient villas
The excursion starts from the Tower of the Camaldolesi’s Hermitage to reach Pino Torinese, in an up and down through forests and villages. Then it descends along the crest of the hill on a very scenic road, touching the beautiful historic villas of the area. You finally reach Piazza del Duomo in the historic center of the picturesque town of Chieri, snail-shaped.
Technical description: From the Camaldolesi’s Hermitage you descend to Borgata Tetti Rosero of Pecetto, at the end of which you go back up through the woods to the Hermitage-Pino provincial road. Turning right you follow the provincial road for 200 meters, then down on the Rooster Path. Down slightly touching the first houses of the town of Pino Torinese, arriving in S.Felice street From Via Podio, walking on the crest of the hill, you descend gradually - through beautiful panoramic views and villas – towards Chieri.
Technical tips: Hiking cloths recommended: layers, backpack, shoes with non-slip sole, hat and sunglasses. Refreshments: after the Hermitage there are no dining options, up to Pino Torinese and then Chieri. Public water fountains: in the square in front of the Hermitage, in Pino Torinese and Chieri.
Its one of the most outstanding examples of eighteenth-century villas of Piedmont, built in 1760 on the existing structures of a silk factory.
Located on the fortress of St.George, which offers a beautiful view, it was built starting from 1037 and renovated in the Baroque period (1752), with a Baroque bell tower with a triangular base. It contains five paintings attributed to Moncalvo.
Road that runs along the crest of the hill, with beautiful panoramic views on both sides (Pecetto Torinese on the right, Pavarolo, Montaldo and Marentino on the left).
It is located on the hill of Pino Torinese and consists of Infini.to (center of popular science) and the Astrophysical Observatory of Turin, where contemplate and explore the sky. Its privileged location offers to the visitors a stunning view of the city of Turin, the Basilica of Superga and the superb circle of the Alps.
