A perfect trip for those who love the green outdoor. You will travel on a territory that extends through a natural reserve: the surroundings are so well preserved and you can see a large amount of plants (mostly elms, oaks and poplars) and a wide fauna (especially teals, night herons, mallards and coots).
An absolutely no demanding path, to enjoy a relaxing day paddling in a protected area of European importance for the its flora and fauna.
Ticino is the second Italian river for water flow and the main tributary of the Po.
The 10 Km long route is simple, but it is advisable to go with an experienced guide, because of the large flow of water and for the chance to cross trunks dragged during floods.
To report a small barrage of stones after 2/3 Km from the start, however, viable on the right side.
Just before the end of the path there is a power plant: viable on the left.
The temperature of the water is not very cold. However it’s recommended an appropriate river clothing and to wear a life jacket.
It is one of the many water mills built in the Ticino valley. Restored, it is now the only functioning and in good condition. It is also a regional center for environmental education, which hosts various cultural and educational activities.
