A bike ride through the heart of Emilia, starting in Bologna, the city of a thousand arcades, and ending in Ferrara, the little cradle of the Renaissance.
Leaving behind the famous Two Towers, the symbol of Emilia’s capital city, we travel along the Silk Road, an ancient route used by merchants who reached Livorno from Venice carrying a wide variety of goods from the East.
Past Bentivoglio, one travels seamlessly through the rich Emilian countryside, passing through small villages and vast open landscapes until reaching the towers of the Estense Castle in the heart of the Renaissance city of Ferrara.
Along the way, we recommend a stop at the Museum of Peasant Civilization in Villa Smeraldi to learn about the history of the plains between Bologna and Ferrara and its ancient crops.
