Home » Brenta Dolomites Trek Expert – Stage #1
The stage route traverses the wide expanses of the Pian della Nana in Trentino, a large karst plateau of extraordinary beauty and geological interest. Herds of cows, horses, donkeys, sheep and goats in the wild graze these grasslands. The hike ends at the Costanzi bivouac, a small house set on a natural viewing terrace and surrounded by greenery.
Technical description:
The high-altitude trek is 9.5 km and is suitable for experienced hikers. From Cles we reach Lake Durigat (m.1869) and from there continue along the forest road that climbs to Rifugio Peller (m.1990) and then, on a flat road, to Malga Clesera (m. 1889). You then take the path that leads, with a small climb, to Salt Lake. Here we leave the marker to reach the Forcola Pass (m. 2105) a little higher up. From the Pass, descend to the Pian della Nana, to rejoin the Sentiero Alpinistico Attrezzato “Claudio Costanzi” (Equipped Mountaineering Trail), which crosses the entire Plain via the Passo della Nana (2195 m) to the eastern slope of Cima Nana. At this point, leave the Costanzi trail to reach the Selletta della Nana (m. 2530) and take the trail down to the A. Costanzi Bivouac (m. 2365).

Breathtaking experience for everyone who loves mountains, vertical rock, boundless grasslands and mysterious forests.
An emblematic multi-day itinerary circumnavigating the entire Brenta Dolomites group: 90 km of trails among vertiginous ferratas, wild alpine pastures and meadows, high-altitude refuges and the unmistakable rock of the Dolomites at sunset.
It is a walking route of about 90 km (plus variants) divided into 11 stages, which circumnavigates at high altitude (1400 – 2800 m asl) the entire Brenta Dolomite range.
The itinerary is modular, depending on the availability of time, in various combinations of stages, taking advantage of the variants. Some of the stages are short and therefore sum up to the same travel day.
