Initially, you descend among mountain pines and flowers of all kinds until you reach the Fridolin saddle. From here we enter the Group’s most emblematic valley, Val Brenta. After passing through a narrow rock tunnel, one can enjoy the view of the Crozzon di Brenta, a 900-meter-high stone colossus in the shape of a ship’s prow, below which lies, on a grassy plateau, the famous Brentei refuge.

Technical description We make our way downhill to Sella del Fridolin (m. 2143), crossing first scree and then a mugheta. Just below the grassy Sella del Fridolin saddle is the junction with the Bogani SAT 318 (E) Trail, which ascends from the Casinei Refuge. Follow this marker to skirt the steep orographic right of Val Brenta until you reach the Maria and Alberto ai Brentei refuge (m. 2182) in an hour. The ‘route that connects the two shelters is a classic and very popular route that does not present particular difficulties except for an exposed but handrail-equipped ledge near the Bogani Gallery.
From now on and up to Rifugio Agostini, the DBT Expert route is considered for experienced hikers. Harness, via ferrata kit, helmet and crampons are required. The variant that leads directly to Rifugio Tosa Pedrotti via Bocca di Brenta makes it possible to avoid this challenging section. The variant crosses a simple snowfield for which snow conditions should be checked by contacting Rifugio Brentei or Pedrotti. Halfway along the trail there are a series of metal lanyards and handrails that make it easy to overcome a rock jump.
Rifugio Tuckett can be reached from Campo Carlo Magno, Val Rendena, by taking the Grostè cable car to Cima del Grostè. From the summit, continue along the SAT 331 trail to the Tuckett Shelter. The Refuge can also be reached from Madonna di Campiglio, Val Rendena. From the village one drives to Loc. Vallesinella and walk up the SAT 317 trail to the refuge. In summer there is a shuttle bus service from Madonna di Campiglio to Loc. Vallesinella.
