A bicycle ride through the hills of Bologna, starting from Calderino (capital of the municipality of Monte San Pietro) and arriving in the center of Casalecchio di Reno, almost all of it on a dirt road or bicycle path.
This very easy route, also suitable for children, runs along the Lavino stream and in the first part offers beautiful hilly views; then it enters the city, while maintaining a bikeable or lightly trafficked route most of the time, reaching the Reno River in downtown Casalecchio.
From here one can then continue on to Bologna and then San Lazzaro, again walking most of the way on bicycle paths or bicycle/pedestrian sections.
Technical description:
The route is very easy, there are no challenging sections. Tackled calmly, it is suitable for everyone: it is 13 km mostly flat, with small, docile climbs, but tending to be downhill. The first part is on footpath and dirt road, then it changes to some small section of road to paved bicycle and pedestrian path.
