A MTB ring-route from Urbania to Mount Montiego

The legendary and thrilling "PS3" descent for MTB lovers

Mount Montiego is part of the Marche Apennines and the mountain bike route reaches its summit, located at 920 metres above sea level.
Starting from Urbania – the city of majolica named “Signora del Metauro” from the name of the valley in which it is located – the tour climbs to the top of Mount Montiego, enjoying extraordinary views of the massif of Mount Nerone, Mount Petrano, and Mount Catria.
Once on the top, the thrilling ride downhill along PS3 starts.

Technical description:
The route includes an initial stretch on flat ground, followed by the climb up to the Montiego peak, approximately 18 km long and with a difference in altitude of 800 metres
The stretch downhill, if you choose the PS3, is very technical and suitable only for more experienced cyclists with full MTBs. Alternatively, travellers can descend along the same road used to reach the top.

Those who want to lengthen the tour can also go back and try PS1 (endurance) and PS2.
It is advisable to carry plenty of water.

Technical advice:
Use of full MTB and backpack with food and water/liquids (minimum 2 water bottles each).
The only water source is the fountain near the woodcutters’ house, immediately below the mountain peak.
The use of a guide is recommended.

Where to park:
Coach parking lot in Urbania (Via Fosso del Maltempo).

Best period to visit:
May to October.
