Short but pleasant mountain bike excursion inside the Casentino Forest National Park, on the border between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna.
This is a beautiful route that leads to the source of the Arno River, passing through the views enjoyed from the highest peaks of the Park, the Falterona and Falco mountains.
Technical description:
The loop trail is off-road, short (10 km) but very fascinating. The departure is at Fonte del Borbotto from where we start pedaling to reach the highest peaks in the Park, Mount Falco (1,658 meters) and Mount Falterona (1,654 meters). From the slopes of the latter springs the Arno, the largest river in Tuscany. The route points right up its source, to “Head of Arno.”
