Home » Dobbiaco – “Cima Coppi” at the Pordoi Pass.
A unique, unrepeatable emotion to ride the roads of Campionissimo on the Pordoi Pass, reaching the most famous“Cima Coppi” of the Giro d’Italia.
A route on quiet roads, surrounded by nature, where cycling history was made with epic feats. It is not for nothing that at the top of the pass, in the presence of the summit of Sass Pordoi, the municipality of Canazei has erected a monument in honor of the Campionissimo Fausto Coppi.
Technical description:
The total route is 72 km. An initial section connects Sexten with Toblach, the town from which the tour proper starts. Passing through the renowned Cortina d’Ampezzo, in the greenery of the natural parks, we aim for the Pordoi Pass, on a track that has several gradients to deal with.
The first ascent leads from Dobbiaco to Cortina in 12 km, with an elevation gain of about 800 meters: it touches 1,205 m. but there are no particularly challenging sections, and the gradients remain constant at around 5-6%.
From Cortina to the Falzarego Pass (16 km) the slopes average 5-6% and only in a 5-km section do they increase to 7-12% (reaching an altitude of 2,105 m).
Finally, from the Falzarego Pass to the Pordoi Pass (20km), the average gradient is around 9 percent, with the final arrival at an altitude of 2,239 meters.
