STAGE 1: Padola – Sappada (31 km)
The first leg of this fascinating itinerary is a continuous transition between millennial forests and historic towns. It starts from Padola, on the border of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo Park. With some slight ups and downs you reach Comelico superiore, and then continue first downhill and then flat following the course of the Padola stream to Santo Stefano di Cadore (km 10), where you meet the Piave River. You then pedal for 2 km to Campolongo, from where you follow the Frison stream bed for a stretch.
The route begins to gain altitude between Mt. Terza Piccola and Mt. Terza Media, rising from 900 meters to nearly 1700 reached at km 20 at Digola Pass. The next descent leads back to the meeting of the Piave River, which leads all the way to the arrival point in Sappada, passing by the pretty Ziegelhutte Lake.
The stage takes place exclusively on dirt roads that are wide and never too steep.

We recommend the use of the latest generation of front-full E-Bike (1-2 years old), in good condition with efficient battery and motor. There are no stops for recharging as the elevation gain is generally doable on a battery charge. Given the altitudes where the tour takes place, proper clothing is necessary to cope with any sudden changes in weather conditions.
