Masseria Cuturi

From an environment of great charm and suggestion, Masseria Cuturi emerges as an ancient stone ship. It is in this environment that fine wines are produced from the masseria’s vineyards , and from the olive trees, many of which are centuries old, a decidedly superior quality oil is pressed.
In 1881 a landowner from Manduria, Don Tommaso Schiavoni-Tafuri, married Countess Sabina of Altamura. Don Tommaso planted the rootstocks of Primitivo brought as a dowry by his wife to Cuturi, on the farm he had taken over, and the fruits were beyond all expectations.
Primitivo di Manduria proved more alcoholic and full-bodied than other Apulian brethren and had great success in France as a blending wine when phylloxera destroyed the vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon a few years later. Today the reborn Cuturi no longer produces blending wines, but a great, proud Italian wine destined for the most discerning tables.
