Home » Pollino Park: in the realm of the white spruce
The white spruce is , after the loricate pine, the tree of greatest interest in the Pollino Park, not only from a botanical point of view but also from a historical-anthropological one, because it is linked to the numerous arboreal rites (propitiatory rites for the fecundity of the earth) widespread in the area.
Secular and monumental specimens of silver fir, one of which would be 400-500 years old, can be seen in the St. Francis Plain area.
