Home » Presolana Pass and the Charcoal Burners’ Trail
The allure of Presolana, the “Queen of the Orobie,” admired from a preferred ‘balcony’ on Mt. Scanapà. This historical-naturalistic trekking itinerary is full of continuous glimpses that, at every turn, give a new thrill; the route ends with the opening of a spectacular “window” on the east face of Presolana.
The path joined the many coal production pitches (charcoal kilns) and allowed the material to be transported to the pass for transfer to the Scalve Valley. The history of those who worked in these woods is mixed with the charm of nature that here, very close to Bergamo, seems to have taken back its own spaces and horizons, from spruces to beeches and finally larches in the highest part of the itinerary.
