Suggestive MTB itinerary to discover the most rural and wild Pollino National Park .
Pedaling on tracks and dirt roads, through forests and pastures, we skirt the Timpa Falconara, a rock tooth characterized by the barren, rocky landscape of gorges, canyons, and desolate pastures.
In its bowels are particularly deep caves, used in the past as a refuge by brigands.
Technical description:
The 23-km route starts from the Acquatremola picnic area and goes through beech and silver fir forest to Piano delle Mandrie. From here we proceed along a dirt road that skirts the wild east side of the Falconara. Arriving at the southeastern end, the view opens to the Timpa di San Lorenzo.
After more pastures and farms, we continue to skirt the Falconara from the western slope: the spectacular sheer walls of limestone rock provide a unique setting.
