‘Sellaronda‘ is the name given to the road (and ski) route around the Sella Dolomite group, positioned between the valleys of Fassa, Livinallongo, Badia and Gardena.
It is also called the ‘Tour of the 4 Passes‘ because it passes through four Alpine passes(Sella, Pordoi, Campolongo and Gardena) and is beloved by cyclists. In fact, since 2006, the Sellaronda Bike Day has been held, an amateur, non-competitive event in which the four passes are closed to automobile traffic, thus reserving them for bicycle enthusiasts for one day. Starting from the route of the Sellaronda is also the famous cycling granfondo ‘Marathon of the Dolomites,’ which takes place every year on the first Sunday of July.
Technical description:
The route starts in Badia and has a flat first section to Corvara, at the foot of the Sella group.
