Home » St. Erasmus Walk, the Garden of Venice
Easy excursion to a little-known island in the Venetian Lagoon, theIsland of Sant’Erasmo. It is the ancient vegetable garden of Venice, having provided the city with fresh vegetables and greens for centuries and still provides unexpected landscapes and pleasant delights.
Here the blue color of the sky and the green color of the sea are reflected in each other. It happens sometimes to see some fishermen collecting caparossoli i.e., the veracious clams so tasty and typical in the local cuisine. Suggestive views and ancient military defense structures complete an unusual itinerary.
