Home » The “Balcony of Marche” by MTB
Itinerary short but varied and enjoyable, which has superb scenic views as its strong point. Cycling on a MTB, the gaze sweeps from the Apennine mountain range to the hills of the Marches and the Adriatic Sea. Unusual glimpse of the village of Cingoli once you exit the wild valley of Fosso Vareno.
The forest consists mainly of downy oaks, but there is no shortage of gorse, holly, scotanus and turkey oaks. Frequent encounters with wildlife, especially wild boar, foxes, deer and squirrels.
You pedal by lapping the Macchia delle Tassinete, a botanical emergence of the Cingolian territory. In addition, in the section of the farmhouses, one can admire from above the Rio Laque Valley, which, although defaced by some quarries, retains a wild charm, enhanced by numerous legends and historical events that took place there in ancient times. In the background are the Apennines, with some characteristic mountains in sequence: San Vicino, Sibillini, Laga, Gran Sasso, and Camicia.
Not to be outdone is the view toward the sea, with Mount Conero in the foreground.
The route is also suitable for hiking and trail running.
Technical description:
Starting from Cingoli ‘s Viali Valentini, one pedals on the provincial road leading to San Severino for 5 km. Near the“Forum” rest area, take the paved road that climbs to the right before the tunnel and, at the Villa Tassinete intersection, take the path ahead. At the first fork, after about 20 meters, keep left and continue straight ahead to the Equiturist riding stables.
At that point take the flat mule track that goes through fields on the right. Past a first farmhouse, the road continues to the left slightly downhill to Casale Tittoni and then takes the paved road back to the riding stables.
Continuing on the same road, after about 2 km, you arrive at Pantanaccio (small pond): here take the path on the left that enters the forest. At the fork keep right straight to the clearing, then turn right again and continue downhill through the valley of Fosso Vareno to Capo di Rio.
Past the town there is one last stretch in the woods, climbing on the left to rejoin the provincial road back to Cingoli.
