Fun scenic loop bike tour, starting from the spa town of Fiuggi and then indulging in the quiet and green of the Ernici Mountains.
Passing by the Altipiani di Arcinazzo, one is immersed in an environment with alpine features and houses with sloping roofs; striking is the view from the characteristic village of Piglio, birthplace of the red wine Cesanese DOCG.
The route continues along the bike path built on the Old Rome-Fiuggi Railroad, which climbs gently along the slopes of the Ernici Mountains offering breathtaking views of the valley.
Technical description:
After the first valleyy kilometer, the approximately 6-km climb (at 5 percent) to the Sella Pass (931 m) begins. After a 2 km descent, you pass through the town of Altipiani di Arcinazzo, with about 3 km of flat terrain and 3 km of slight uphill.
The long descent that passes through the village of Piglio leads to the entrance of the bike path, which climbs gently for about 7 km, then leads back to Fiuggi.
