Home » The Etruscan Coast – medium route
Route that offers moments dedicated to gastronomy, culture, entertainment and sports. It takes place in a typical Tuscan landscape, passing through towns laden with history (Rosignano Marittimo, Castiglioncello, Montecatini Val di Cecina), skirting the Tyrrhenian Sea with glimpses of the Archipelago, and then entering the unspoiled green of the Pisan-Livorno hills, passing near the white beaches of Rosignano Solvay.
Technical description:
The loop bicycle route is 95 km, of medium/high difficulty, starting and returning from the historic town of Rosignano Marittimo, in the province of Livorno.
From the Tuscan town we proceed to the sea and beaches. We travel along the coastal stretch between the promontories of Castiglioncello and Quercianella, then head inland at a time to Santa Luce (see the Nature Reserve) and the Pisan Hills. After skirting the hills, passing through the Etruscan villages of Pomaia and Castellina Marittima, continue south with the long descent to San Martino.
After a loop tour, on provincial and secondary roads, that touches Casino di Terra, Guardistallo, and Montescudaio (4-km climb), it goes up the plain to the northwest to Rosignano.
