1st ROUTE: Cervignano del Friuli – San Giorgio di Nogaro (22.3 km)
The route kicks off at the Cervignano train station: from here, pedaling along Viale Roma and Viale Mazzini to the Urban Park in Independence Square. After crossing the Ausa River, continue north, leaving the town on a busy road until you enter the bike path that leads first to Muscoli and then, skirting the Taglio River, to the extremely well-preserved and rarely charming medieval village of Strassoldo (km 5).
Here take Via delle Scuole on the left and follow the signs for Bagnara Arsa, passing the overpass. At km 6 this small road becomes unpaved, while still maintaining a good surface, and leads, in the midst of several canals, to the hamlet of San Gallo, where the paved road to Campolonghetto (reached at km 8) is found again. Leaving the built-up area, turn left and then immediately right in the direction of Arsa and left again (km 10.6), skirting the canals. You pass Villaggio Roma, a WW2 prison camp, and, paying attention at the junction with SP 14 (km 14.4), enter Torviscosa.
Once past the overpass, instead of continuing through the town center, turn right and go alongside the railroad for a stretch, past Villanova and the Corno River to San Giorgio di Nogaro, where the arrival point of this first stage is located in Piazza del Plebiscito.

The Friulian Riviera is a loop route designed to visit bike-friendly Friuli Venezia Giulia. The bicycle route is about 192 km long and runs between the Adriatic Riviera and the lagoon, also crossing the lowlands. It can be enjoyed by sea lovers and all those who dream of walking in small forests or discovering the fascination of archaeology and history.
With a ride punctuated by lagoon landscapes and the flat, gentle rhythms of the plains, the route is suitable for anyone: it runs along the Upper Adriatic coast, laps the lagoons of Grado and Marano, and reaches the Roman city of Aquileia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
