STAGE 2: San Giorgio di Nogaro – Rivarotta (27.3 km)
The second stage starts from Plebiscito Square in San Giorgio di Nogaro. You leave the village on Via Aquileia, passing under an overpass and taking the bike path to the old bridge over the Corno River. Carefully cross over the SS14 to rejoin the bicycle path and ride gently along the river, passing by some Roman ruins.
We pass the Roggia Corgnolizza canal twice, leaving the bicycle path further on Via Palladio (km 2) and continuing to pedal accompanied by the canals, which run alongside the road and branch out neatly, arriving at the edge of the built-up area of Corgnolo (km 6.8). Taking Via della Vittoria on the left, you arrive at the intersection with the busy SR353, which you should follow for a few meters and then turn right onto a well-maintained dirt road that runs alongside the Cormor stream.
Here the bicycle continues to glide gently through the Friulian lowlands, enjoying the serenity surrounded by small streams and encountering small settlements. Near the first houses of Pocenia (km 19), the road becomes paved again. Having also passed through this town, the route proceeds south, passing over the highway and shortly afterwards turning left onto a dirt road: you pedal in a very pleasant environment, among small lakes and woods sheltered by the Stella River, until you reach Palazzolo dello Stella. Here we recommend a short detour, proceeding straight on Via Roma for a little more than 1 km (instead of turning right as per the route), to admire the bike/pedestrian walkway over the Stella.
Back in Palazzolo, we follow the trail in the direction of Rivarotta, where this stage ends.

The Friulian Riviera is a loop route designed to visit bike-friendly Friuli Venezia Giulia. The bicycle route is about 192 km long and runs between the Adriatic Riviera and the lagoon, also crossing the lowlands. It can be enjoyed by sea lovers and all those who dream of walking in small forests or discovering the fascination of archaeology and history.
With a ride punctuated by lagoon landscapes and the flat, gentle rhythms of the plains, the route is suitable for anyone: it runs along the Upper Adriatic coast, laps the lagoons of Grado and Marano, and reaches the Roman city of Aquileia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
