STAGE 4: Lignano Sabbiadoro – Marano Lagunare (39 km)
The famous seaside resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro is the starting point of the 4th stage of the Friulian Riviera, the bicycle touring route to discover Friuli.
We start again pedaling alongside the beach, among Lignano’s hotels with sea views, until we reach the pier to the Lighthouse, where we turn left and reach the bridge over the dock, finding the waterfront on the opposite side as we take the beautiful “Lagoon Bike Path.” It is at km 6, past the cemetery, that we leave the bike path and head toward Via Tarvisio, which leads to the pine forest. From here you quickly reach the traffic circle at Viale Tagliamento, where a bicycle-pedestrian path allows you to cross the boulevard and safely enter the bicycle path that exits Lignano Sabbiadoro and ends just before entering Aprilia Marittima.
From Aprilia, one exits along the tree-lined Coral Avenue and then skirts the lagoon by pedaling on a dirt road. At km 17.7 we return to the asphalt SP 56, which runs between canals, near the Foci dello Stella Nature Reserve, a birdwatching paradise among royal swans, herons and marsh harriers. The bike tour continues passing near Titiano, where with a very short detour to the right along Strada 1° Lovaria you can visit the beautiful little church Madonna della Neve, on the bank of the Stella River. It is by pedaling gently through the canals of the Friulian Riviera that we reach the town of Precenicco (km 30) and pass on the opposite side of the Stella, where the characteristic Marinaretto House is located.
The last section skirts Bosco Baredi, a relict of the vast forest that ran from the Livenza River to the Isonzo River in Roman times, and ends in Marano Lagunare.

The Friulian Riviera is a loop route designed to visit bike-friendly Friuli Venezia Giulia. The bicycle route is about 192 km long and runs between the Adriatic Riviera and the lagoon, also crossing the lowlands. With a ride punctuated by lagoon landscapes and the flat, gentle rhythms of the plains, the route is suitable for anyone: it runs along the Upper Adriatic coast, laps the lagoons of Grado and Marano, and reaches the Roman city of Aquileia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
