Home » The Tour of Cilento by Bike
A journey through the spectacular landscapes and history steeped in myth and legend of Cilento, in southern Campania. An undiscovered territory, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that lends itself well to a challenging multi-day bike tour.
A land of rolling hills covered with olive trees that are mirrored in the Tyrrhenian Sea, which has always been a crossroads of peoples and traditions, Cilento is crossed by lively streams and is rich in forests, and its splendid landscape is enriched by villages clinging to the rocks or nestled on the sea shores.
You pedal from the plains of Paestum, a stone’s throw from the famous temples of Magna Grecia, to the hinterland, characterized by sinewy, scenic roads that embrace the grandeur of this area, from the ridges of the Alburni Mountains to the crystal clear sea.
You pass through historic villages, savor the Mediterranean essence of the National Park, which accompanies you from Castelcivita to Bellosguardo and from Roscigno to the headwaters of the Sammaro, to Piaggine, Vallo della Lucania and the wild San Severino of Centola. Then uphill again, on the hairpin bends of Cilento’s “little Stelvio” toward Licusati, among monumental olive trees and sheer cliffs.
The last part of the trip goes to explore the coast, from Marina di Camerota to Ascea, among beautiful beaches (Caprioli, Palinuro, Marina di Pisciotta), rocks and caves that open onto transparent waters.
