Naturalistic and historical itinerary that takes the hiker to discover a nature of rare beauty and to remember one of the most tragic moments of World War II in Italy, namely the massacre of Sant’Anna di Stazzema.
The route also includes a climb to the top of Mount Lieto, from which there is a wonderful view of both the Apuan Alps and the sea of Versilia. On clear days, Gorgona Island and even Corsica can be spotted.
Technical description:
The route does not present great difficulty, although some sections can be challenging for those who are not trained to walk. Especially the ascent to the summit of Mount Lieto can be a bit strenuous even though you are walking in the middle of the forest and the trail is not difficult to follow. The ascent to the summit is well marked however, it is still necessary to pay attention.
