A beautiful trek in the green of the Casentino Forest National Park, along the Apennine ridge between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. The loop trail, starting from the village of San Benedetto in Alpe, among chestnut groves and scenic glades leads to the discovery of the spectacular Acquacheta Waterfall. An oasis of peace that made even Dante Alighieri fall in love with it.
Technical description:
The trail starts from San Benedetto in Alpe and for the first 3 km the trail is all uphill through the woods. After crossing the border with Tuscany, a scenic plateau is reached: from here the trail begins to descend. Skirting a stream to the north, at the 7-kilometer walk you reach the area with the Acquacheta Waterfall.
After a much-needed rest, we set off again in the direction of San Benedetto in Alpe, following a path downhill past the nearby Lavane Waterfall and Molino dei Romiti.
