Description of the route
This mountain bike day trip, much of which follows the Franciscan Trail, connects in both directions Assisi and Gubbio, towns that need no introduction, such is their beauty and fame.
It is a route that is enriched with the very special charm of passing along paths that were certainly traveled many times by St. Francis, and because of this there is a widespread feeling of spirituality.
You pedal on smooth terrain but some sections have major elevation changes such as the famous “She-wolf’s Bite.”
Technical description:
It starts from the parking lot of Gubbio ‘s Roman Theater always heading south. The route(51 km) involves overcoming four significant hill climbs, totaling about 1,600 m of uphill elevation gain.
The trail is well rideable except for a short section with wooden steps.

Technical tips:
Along the way it is possible to refuel with water at springs, farmhouses or hamlets. Therefore, it is recommended not to overdo the water supply so as not to carry too much weight. Instead, it is necessary to have the main spare parts for your bike with you. With, or following rain, it is possible to encounter stretches with mud.
Even in summer, it is good to have a windproof jacket with you.
